Power in the Village 2009
----------------------------------------------------
Your Sub-Camp will be assigned a power distribution box to plug into.
This information will be posted as a “Power Map” showing the distro-grid
and your assigned hook up points.
Power Disto Map (Click on the image for a larger sized version)
To plug into the boxes YOU will need to bring:
1) A 100 foot 10 gauge cord (do not skimp and buy a wimpy cord!!
Get a heavy duty 10g to minimize power loss so we don’t overload the system) !
2) A twist lock “pig-tail” adaptor to plug into your assigned distro-box.
These are about $8.00 at home depot.
Be sure one end has a MALE twist lock to plug into the distro box.
We recommend hooking a single cord to the distro-box and splitting it off
into various lines within
your camp rather then at the distro-box to minimize clutter at the boxes…
You will need to make a duct-tape flag at the end of your cord at the distro box with
your sub-camps name on it. A list of assigned camps will be posted on top of each box.
The distro-boxes are wrapped in plastic to help keep dust out, please cut a slit
only big enough to plug in your cord or access the circuit breakers in
the box. Each plug on the distro-boxes
has a circuit breaker like the panel in your house, these will blow if the
lines become over loaded and can be reset as need be.
We will be capable of providing power 24h a day during the event!!!
POWER IN THE VILLAGE IS PRIMARILY FOR MAKING THE VILLAGE LOOK GOOD, AND FUELING THE MOST “ARTISTIC” CAMPS.
DEVICES LIKE AIR CONDITIONERS, AND ELECTRIC HOT PLATES, THAT USE A LOT OF POWER AND ARE INTENDED FOR
NONE OTHER THEN PERSAONAL COMFORT ARE A SECONDARY CONCERN !!!
In the event of a power shortage we will have to disconnect “comfort” devices first and keep the
“Illumination” in Illumination Village. Hope you understand!
PLEASE DO NOT EVEN BRING ELECTRIC HOT PLATES AND HEATERS, THEY SIMPLY USE MORE POWER
THEN WE HAVE!! SOME AIR CONDITIONERS AND FRIGES ARE OK.
If you have a huge power hungry RV please be respectful and limit your power use to the absolute minimum possible
and if you have an internal generator please use it during prime time for AC and such when the village system will
be loaded with everyone else’s AC and such. At night we must keep all the lights on and lights are encouraged…
Best Regards,
The Illumination Village Energy-Team
Thanks!
