THE ART OF CHARLES A.GADEKEN

THE BIO.

Charles A Gadeken grew up in the small mountain town of Indian Hills, Colorado. Charles is a self taught artist. He studied philosophy at Fort Lewis College and Metropolitan State College before moving to San Francisco in 1989 to begin his professional career as an artist. Spotlighted in 1993 by the San Francisco Fine Art Dealers Association, Charles exhibited his art at Ebert Galleries, Union Square and was included in the group show "Introductions 93" at Southern Exposure Gallery. This group show brought to life the work of forty of Northern California's most talented and up and coming artists. Charlescreated the Illumination Project in 1995 and first exhibited in August and September of 1996 at the Burning Man Festival. The Project has produced fourteen monumental works of art and will continue to evolve. In Oct. of 1999 they recived a grant from the San Francisco Art Commision to produce two works of art for the Grand Opening of Treasure Island to the public. These works of art become the first public sculpture on the island since the 1937 World Expo. The project members include five key personnel and a small army of volunteers.
